Hey everyone, welcome to the Krebscast. This is the second intro I'm recording this week because

0:07.9

shortly after I recorded the first intro, there was another elementary school mass shooting

0:17.2

in the United States. It was done by another person who somehow had access to guns. He should have

0:25.8

had access to. That's the same access to guns all of us enjoy, but none of us were there

0:35.9

to protect those kids and teachers that died. That should be noted as well. I don't have a

0:46.0

political statement here. I think this is a systemic issue that's going to require a lot to fix

0:53.3

everything from more gun control to access to mental health care to a bunch of stuff. This

1:04.4

is a very large conversation. I don't think spouting off recycled political rhetoric or whatever

1:11.3

is anywhere near the solution here. But I got to be honest, I don't know what the solution is.

1:18.5

Nothing changed after Sandy Hook and the political climate has only gotten worse since.

1:26.9

Yeah, I don't know the solution, but I do know this. If someone were to suggest a solution that

1:34.6

I wasn't comfortable with, I'd at least hear them out. I'd at least listen. It doesn't

1:44.1

really matter who has the idea. I'd at least listen. Listening is not going to cause any harm,

1:51.4

because the last time in elementary school got shot up, people weren't really listening to

1:58.7

each other. I don't know that anyone's done much listening since. We've tried not listening for a

2:07.1

long, long, very long time, and now more kids are dead in another elementary school mass shooting.

2:20.4

There's no point in virtue signaling here trying to show morals of some sort. I don't really

2:25.2

think any of us are proud of our morals right now. We just had Buffalo happen. That was last

2:34.7

week and then the day before Buffalo was Milwaukee, which nobody even remembers because nobody died.

2:43.1

There were not a few people shot there. There's probably been more shootings between

2:50.4

then and now that I don't even know about because they didn't make the news or they didn't make a

2:55.4

big splash in the news. How is that the case? It's just not. We all participate in a society that
