You're not just being imperative with them. You're telling them why you're choosing to do something or why you have to do something.

With your young rookies convey respect by telling them why. You tell them, look, this is the way you have to fill out this report, period. Well, that may not stick at the same as you tell them why they have to do that. It definitely gets compliance. It definitely makes it stick. And you've conveyed respect. That's all everybody wants. I mean, you know, there's, you think about the nastiest gangbanger, murderer, robber, rapists that you've ever dealt with. Every human being still wants some kind of respect. And like you just said, it's 5% extra energy to do that. But it makes your job easier, for sure. It makes their day better and everybody wins.

My name is Dennis Benino. And we have everybody's favorite today. You know him. You know, he's been at the conferences. He's been around for, I don't know, you know, you're in the job, 63 years now? 64. Yeah, get it right. 64 years. It's your favorite captain of all time. Captain Corey Flowers, the captain to everybody should strive to be. Captain Cory Flowers, dude, we're just about to start talking. I said, before we talk, let's just do the introduction, get this fucking thing rolling. Good. Yeah, it's a way to do it, man. It's good to see you, dude. It's been a minute. a minute. We talked about how much time has passed since we last talk. It's been more, it's been longer than I thought it was. And I'm like,

man, I haven't talked to Corey forever. And I guess what I've been feeling lately is like,

dude, time is crazy. It's crazy. Yep. I've got buddy, man, I got a good pal, Matt Allred, one of the best cops that I've known. He's, you know, retiring in a week. I mean, stuff like that starts happening, man. You realize how fast time is, man. And then especially you realize, you know, trying to fill that guy's shoes.

You know, it's a tall order, man. But yeah, time flies, dude. I tell you what. And, you know, this time of year, especially with all the holidays coming up, you get no break. It's just fast. It's an old cliche, but I don't know how to slow it down. I wish I could, man. I don't know what's happening as I am one week away from my 44th birthday.

I know what you're thinking. No, you don't look like it. I know. I get away with that

shit all the time. But I'm in this second half of my life now and I'm like good God.

So what does that make you think, man?

I mean, it makes me.
