I'm Angela O'Dell and you are listening to real cool history for kids, a podcast show featuring history stories told from a biblical worldview. Welcome to episode 10 of Real cool history for kids. It is often said that history is told by

the winners. Although this is true to a certain degree, I'd like to add, well, I guess an observation.

History is often told by the people who had the most witnesses and even better yet a camera to

catch them in action. There have been countless accomplishments that have been

lost in the sands of time, simply because of the lack of record

or photographs to prove it actually happened.

The story I'm going to tell you today is about one of those accomplishments that was nearly lost forever.

Thankfully, there were enough witnesses to verify that the story is indeed true, and the event truly did happen. When I discovered the story I knew I

needed to tell you about it because well it's centered around a young person

who even though they they endured great

tragedy they persevered and worked hard to develop their skill and

eventually fulfill their dreams.

When you think about early airplanes,

like most people, you probably think about the Wright brothers,

Orville and Wilbur and their flight at Kitty Hawk on December 17th of

1903. We know that they made this flight because they had a photographer taking

pictures and even filming a moving picture.

We can even watch their historic flight on YouTube.

There has never been any argument that their flight happened that December day in

1903. It is because of the Wright brothers consideration for publicity that they are known as the first in flight.

And it was because they had clear photos to prove their flight

that they went down in history as the first people in history to a their flight in a heavier than air flying machine.
