Let's talk about sex. So Gina, several years ago, when I was in school, we were having a conversation about how we learned about sex and what the family messages were

was sex and you know all that that entails because if you think about it there's so much stuff that's not spoken in families about sex

Exactly comes to teaching kids or you know the household I was raised in was this whole don't do it don't do it don't do it

largely that was unspoken but one of our encouragement that we were supposed to do as

far as an assignment was to initiate

some conversations with other people in our family about how did you learn about sex,

specifically other generations. And this just so happened to be a time when we were actually going to go see my grandparents and aunts and uncles and we always grew up far apart.

And so we didn't see each other a whole lot at the holidays.

And this was one of those times when we're all going to be together and I told my

mom hey at Thanksgiving table I think I'm going to ask Madder and Grandy who's my

grandparents how did you guys learn about sex? And she was so nervous.

Were you high school or college?

This was college.

This was in my doctoral program.

Oh, okay.

And so we were always given these assignments to really stretch our comfort zone.

Because that's part of growing, you know, is doing things that you're a little uncomfortable with and leaning into that and then see what happens.

And I'm sad to say I didn't do it.

I didn't ask because you know you think about it with my grandparents he was an

elder in the church by the time he was in his mid-20s.
