john and erred's podcast which we are tentatively calling the baseball pitcher and the baseball pitcher

is because we're going to be talking about baseball and because we're going to be drinking. Right. Basically. I would reverse the order of those. We're going to be drinking and talking about baseball. There you go. So we've got a pitcher of Surly Furious here. We're at Park Tavern at St. Louis Park. And the idea is that we'll eventually get a sponsor to buy us these pitchers and host us when we do these recordings. And then we will talk about baseball. So let's talk about the twins. And let's make sure that Aaron's mic is working this time because we went 12 minutes into it last time before we figured out that Aaron wasn't. It was such a great discussion. It's really too bad you guys had to miss it. I think I was at my most brilliant.

John was okay.

1:11.9

He wasn't great. I mean, he was all right. I mean, for John, he was good, obviously. But, uh, all right. We'll go back and recap when we talked about it. Unfortunately, we're not going to have any trouble talking about twin stuff today because there's been a fairly big day for the twins. We've been waiting, we've been kind of planning on doing this for like a couple weeks.

1:13.9

And for a couple weeks we've been saying, are we going to do it?

1:14.6

Are we not going to do it?

1:12.4

Are we going to do it, are we not going to do it, or

1:14.7

we're going to have anything to talk about? We finally decided this afternoon that we're going to do it, and suddenly we have, what, about five different major stories break for the twins? Yeah, it's been like a crazy, you know, four or five hours on and off the field.

1:25.8

And the first of those major stories is, well, let's do Tommy as the first major story, right?

1:32.7

600 home runs at Comerica Park, which is exactly the park nobody wanted him to hit it at.

1:40.8

The nice thing is that he hit him into the bullpen, so they were able to give him back to him, which was cool. I mean, his whole family was there. His dad came on the field. And, you know, he didn't have to pay someone $50,000 for the baseball. Although, for the record, I just want to say, I don't begrudge a fan for asking $50,000 for a baseball or selling it to the highest bidder whether

2:02.1

or not it is that player. And I don't, frankly, I don't even consider it vulgar. I don't see how

2:06.1

you can consider that vulgar and not consider, you know, a starting pitcher, a mediocre starting

2:11.8

pitcher asking for $7 million a year vulgar. Like if it's a valuable, listen, we justify those salaries because we say that's a valuable thing and you have to pay for valuable things. And sure enough, and it's valuable because it's rare. And so is the 600th home run ball. So I would have no problem with anybody auctioning that off to the highest bidder. Yeah, I agree with that. I mean, in theory it would be nice if someone caught it and said, you know what, I'll just

2:35.7

give it to them.

2:36.2

But when you're talking about even, you know, $1,000, it's tough to pass it up. Right. And not to mention when you're talking about something I could buy your kid, your college education. Like, hey, Jim, tell me, you're a good guy. I want to be a good guy

2:48.2

and give you your $600,000.

2:49.2

You've made $145 million for your career.

2:52.3

Probably more than that, actually.

2:53.7

How about my kid goes to college? I want to be a good guy and give you your $600.00000000. You've made $145 million for your career.

2:52.3

Probably more than that, actually.
