| 0:00.0 | Good morning and welcome to the Increase Your Impact podcast. I'm Justin Sua, episode 1,919. Today I am taking an excerpt from a book called How to Be an Imperfectionist by Stephen Guys. Now, this concept is, it's called ceilings and floors, or ceiling and floor goals. |
| 0:21.8 | Ceiling goals are the types of goals where everything has to go perfectly. |
| 0:26.8 | It is the perfect ideal goal that they're astronomical. |
| 0:31.9 | These are the goals that you reach for, the ones that you hope for, the ones that are best case scenarios. |
| 0:39.1 | Now the floor goals are the let's make sure we make this, we hit the target goals. These are the bare minimum goals, |
| 0:45.4 | the ones that when the smoke settles, you want to be able to at least hit these. Now, what I would |
| 0:52.8 | suggest is that your floor goals, let's make sure we hit this target |
| 0:58.3 | goal should be process oriented. They should be the types of goals that you have 100% control over. |
| 1:06.7 | The ones that you know that if you execute these things, the results should take care of themselves, but in some cases, they don't. |
| 1:14.8 | Giving your best and executing your plan doesn't guarantee success. It makes it, it increases the odds. |
| 1:22.2 | It makes it more likely that it will happen than not, but it doesn't guarantee anything. |
| 1:26.6 | These are your floor goals, |
| 1:28.4 | your let's make sure we hit the target goals, goals that no matter who you're performing against, |
| 1:33.3 | whatever the weather is, whatever the circumstances, you can look yourself in the mirror and say, |
| 1:37.8 | I did this because it was fully under your control. Now the ceiling goals, those could be more results-oriented goals. |
| 1:48.7 | These are that if everything goes perfectly goals. |
| 1:52.4 | And whenever you end the performance, your results or how you do should land somewhere between your floors, your floor goals and your ceiling goals. |
| 2:01.9 | And so I just thought that was a very interesting concept that I just heard from the book, |
| 2:05.0 | how to be an imperfectionist. |
| 2:07.2 | Maybe it's something that resonates with you. |
| 2:09.0 | Maybe it's something that resonates with somebody else. |
| 2:11.4 | And hopefully you enjoyed this episode. |
