| 0:00.0 | Good morning and welcome to the increase from, in fact, podcasts. I'm Justin Sua episode 1869. |
| 0:07.0 | I recently read an article that told a story of a gentleman named Albert Gray who delivered a speech |
| 0:15.0 | called the Common Denominator of Success, and the speech was delivered at the National Association of Life Underwriters in 1940. |
| 0:24.0 | And in this speech, he was talking about, he created a research study, a group of researchers to study the biographies and autobiographies of very successful men and women back in the 1940s. |
| 0:38.0 | And he came to understand, he said this, quote, the secret of success of every man or woman who has ever been successful lies in the fact that they form the habit of doing things that failures don't like to do. |
| 0:52.0 | What are the things that failures don't like to do? The very things that you and I and other human beings, including successful men and women naturally don't like to do. |
| 1:01.0 | In other words, we've got to realize right from the start that success is something which is achieved by the minority of people and is therefore a natural and not to be achieved by following our natural likes and dislikes or by being guided by our natural preferences and prejudices. |
| 1:20.0 | You've probably wondered, Gray continues, why is it that those who are the best at what they do seem to like to do the things that you don't like to do? |
| 1:29.0 | And his response to that is they don't, then why did they do them? Because by doing the things they don't like to do, they can accomplish the things they want to accomplish, close, close quote. |
| 1:44.0 | That's the message I want to read that last part again, by doing the things successful people don't like to do, they accomplish the things they want to accomplish. |
| 1:54.0 | My question, first of all, statements, the things you want to achieve are often on the other side of the things you don't want to do, the things you want to achieve are often on the other side of the things you don't want to do. |
| 2:10.0 | That's a more often than not. And even venture to say every time, every time you want to achieve something, it's on the other side of the things you don't want to do. |
| 2:20.0 | And so my question for the day is this, my shirt for those of you writing in your journal number one, write down all of the things you want to accomplish, all of the things. |
| 2:30.0 | And then with all the things you want to accomplish, write down the things you don't want to do in order to accomplish it. |
| 2:39.0 | And then look at that list, look at what you wrote. |
| 2:43.0 | Whatever you want to accomplish runs through those things you don't want to do. |
| 2:49.0 | So the choice is yours, do them or don't do them. |
| 2:53.0 | If you want to achieve it, you need to stay the brutal facts in the face and lean into the discomfort of doing the things you don't want to do. |
| 3:01.0 | Have a great day and we'll do it again tomorrow. |
