Good morning and welcome to the Increasing Impact Podcast. I'm Justin Sua episode

1,868. Yesterday I was talking to an athlete and we were discussing how to deal

with uncertainty. He's going through a situation that's very difficult and his

mind is starting to play tricks on him. He's starting to make all of these

assumptions and jump to conclusions and making up this story that is not

necessarily true. We all make stories up to ourselves but this story that he's

making up is full of negativity. It's full of doubt and is causing him to

doubt his ability and to form cracks in his confidence.

We started to talk about the questions that he's asking himself. These questions

are not beneficial and the answers to these questions are leading

towards that negativity and doubt. I shared with him

if you want better answers start asking better questions and then we went over

five questions. He can ask himself to neutralize

his thought process and these are the five questions.

Number one, what do I not know about my circumstance?

Number two, what is the best case scenario of how this plays out?

Number three, what is the worst case scenario of how this plays out and then

what would I do about it? Number four, what can I control?

And number five, if I'm not given any additional information,

what am I going to do about my situation? And what I invited this

gentleman to do is to really sit and think about the answer to these questions.

Be absolutely honest and really take time.
