Good morning and welcome to the Increase Your Impact Podcast. I'm Justin Sua, episode 1,867. Today, I had a good

conversation with a conversation with an elite CrossFit athlete. And we were talking about purpose.

Now, oftentimes you'll hear me say doing things on purpose, do things on purpose with purpose.

And what I mean by that is have meaning to what you do.

And we had a recently had a podcast episode on that point.

But the thing that he, that really resonated with him was the fact that you don't need a capital P purpose for your life,

but it's also the fine purpose in the little things that we do. And we were talking about

recovery days. A lot of times the top performers in the world struggle with recovery days,

struggle with the day off, the day for your mind and your body

and your spirit to rejuvenate, to get you ready to get back after it the next day

in training or in performance. But sometimes there are certain athletes that find that

very difficult to do because they believe that if they're not doing something physical

if they're not doing something to get better, then they're getting worse because then they go online,

they go on social media and they see their competitors doing something. And so they have this

action bias that if I'm not taking action, then I'm getting worse.

And what this athlete goes on to say, he says that he finds a lot of power in attaching a purpose

to the activities he does on his activity day, a purpose for resting, a purpose for eating what he eats,

a purpose for reading a book versus going to the gym, a purpose for eating what he eats, a purpose for reading a book versus

going to the gym, a purpose for going out with a significant other than staying and going into

the weight room, whatever it may be to train. And he found that when he attaches a purpose to

what he does, even the mundane little things,

he's able to be more focused and probably more importantly, when that doubt starts to creep in
