Today I want to read to you a quote from Michael Jordan. It's a famous quote, but I think it's always good to revisit this one.

And I've done it many times before. Here's the quote.

I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games.

26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life.

And that is why I succeed.

I've been having a lot of conversations lately around the topic of failure.

And a lot of the best performers in the world, one of the things that they do is they have an incredibly...

They have a great relationship with failure.

Now that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. It doesn't mean it's not embarrassing.

It doesn't mean that they want to fail.

When I say someone has a great relationship with failure, it means that they understand that it is inevitable.

And like Michael Jordan, they use failure as a stepping stone and not a stumbling block.

So my question to you is, what's your relationship like with failure?

How do you view it? Do you view it as something that reveals that...

that defines who you are or do you view it as an event, something to learn from, something to get better with?

Now you'll notice something as your relationship with failure gets better.

You're going to find a greater capacity to lean into uncertainty, to be positive about difficult situations,

to take each failure in stride and learn and grow.

You're going to understand that you're a work in progress.

And so my question to you, for those of you who are writing in a journal, is, what can you do to strengthen your relationship with failure?
