Good morning and welcome to the Increase Your Impact Podcast. I'm Justin Sua. Episode 1,854. Today I want to read an excerpt from a newsletter that I get from Billy Oppenheimer. It's called 6 at 6. And this is about Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. And they tell this story about getting into acting as little kids. Here's a story. Quote, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, and they tell the story about getting into acting as little kids.

Here's a story. Quote, Matt Damon was asked if he would let his kids pursue acting careers.

0:28.4

To answer, he provided some context. Damon and Ben Affleck were neighbors growing up. They both knew at an

0:35.1

early age that they wanted to be actors. And not only did their own

0:38.7

parents tell them not to do it, Damon said, but each other's parents told them not to do it.

0:44.9

We were told explicitly, don't do it, Damon said. Ben's mom told me, don't do it. You know what I mean?

0:52.8

So, so I do think do think Damon says to answer the

0:57.9

original question if you're really meant to do it it doesn't matter what anybody says close

1:04.4

quote so once again I just want to reiterate Matt Damon Matt Damon was asked if he would let

1:10.1

his kids pursue acting careers. And he says,

1:12.8

if you're really meant to do it, it doesn't matter what anybody says. I love that because a lot of

1:21.7

times when we want to achieve something and pursue something that's difficult that might be outside of conventional

1:30.5

wisdom where the odds are completely against you we look for permission we want to

1:35.5

receive permission from people that hey it's okay we can do it when the reality is

1:41.1

they don't know and some people might be holding you back and pulling you

1:45.3

from that thing because the odds are against you it is not safe it is not recommended to go that

1:52.7

path because it would be better and more sustainable and the odds are for you going a different path

1:58.3

but i believe this is so true i've seen it in my own life.

2:02.4

If you're meant to do it and if you really want to do it, you're going to do it no matter what

2:08.8

anybody else says. And so question of the day, the journal prompt of the day is what is it that

2:16.1

you want? How about this? You often hear the question, what is it that you want?

2:18.8

How about this?
