Good morning and welcome to the Increase Your Impact Podcast. I'm Justin Sua, episode 1,796. I heard a phrase today that

0:08.5

has been on my mind all day. The phrase goes, be a learn at all, not a know at all. Be a learn at all,

0:18.0

not a know at all. Now, obviously, we can't learn everything there is to know about everything,

0:22.8

but the basic concept is highlighting the importance of curiosity,

0:30.5

learning more, understanding people.

0:33.0

And if you want to learn, you need to get better at asking questions

0:36.4

instead of going around telling people

0:38.4

what the answer is or what you think, ask people what they think. Ask people what their opinion is.

0:45.8

1:21.8

at home makes you more susceptible to skewing towards the learn it all or the know at all.

1:30.6

Maybe you're an environment where it pays to be smart and you have to show how smart you are.

1:36.1

You have to debate and you have to show your authority and your confidence with what you know.

1:41.2

However, there are other environments where it's important to say, I don't know,

1:48.4

and to display intellectual humility. And when people have that mindset, sincerely trying to learn it all,

1:56.2

that's when you begin to learn more and more and more. And then you become such a tremendous asset to people who you're with because you've

2:04.8

collected so much information from so many different people.
