Good morning and welcome to the increase your impact podcast. I'm just in SUA episode

1,785 and the rest of this week, I'd like to share with you something that you probably

don't hear too much from me, but happens all the time. I want to share with you some

of my favorite failures. I struggle not only in my career, but as a father, as a husband,

just like anyone else. I have ups, I have downs, I have things that I regret, I have

things that I do, I have things that I don't do, and by sharing some of my failures,

I don't know, maybe it might be helpful for some of you out there. I, the first story

that I can remember, I mean, I can remember a lot of them, but one story in particular

that really touched my heart was early in my career. My son was in 5th grade, he's currently

a junior in high school, and I was gone a lot. I was going through school, I was working,

had a number of different jobs, trying to support my wife and three kids, and it was very

stressful, very stressful. And I remember coming home one day while everyone was asleep,

my kids were sleeping, my wife was awake, and I'm eating food, and me and my wife Melissa

were just talking, and she has a white paper, a drawing, and she slides it to me on the

counter, and she says, take a look at this, and I'm looking at it, and it's a drawing from

my son at his kindergarten class. And I examined the drawing, and I looked at it, and it broke

my heart. And I said, how do you explain this? So what do you have to say? And she goes,

no, you need to ask him, ask him the moral. I said, okay. So he wakes up in the morning,

and I couldn't wait to ask him about the drawing. I show him, I said, hey, Jerome, how many

people are in our family? He goes five. I said, okay, how many people are in this picture?

And he looks at the picture, he says four. I said, yeah, there's mommy, there's you, there's

Maya, and there's Eliana. Where's daddy? And the words he said, pierced my heart back
