we're talking about acquiring knowledge, getting smarter, gathering information, improving on what you already know.

Charlie Munger, he is Warren Buffett's right-hand man, one of the richest men in the

world. He's brilliant, but he focuses his brilliance on simplicity, very simple mental models put

into practice. And he said in a USC commencement address many years ago that you are not going to get very far in

life based on what you already know. I'm going to say that again, you're not going to get very

far in life based on what you already know. Things change. The world adapts. Technology improves improves your opponents make adjustments you change

your desires your likes what you define a success evolves over time and so if you think

you're going to have future success solely based on the knowledge that you already know,

you are wrong.

You need to continue to update your knowledge.

You need to continue to update your skill set.

Keep gathering information.

The phrase I always love to share with people is you can't draw from an

empty well. What I mean by that is if you're not only feeding your body, but if you're not

feeding your mind with books and podcasts and videos and knowledge and great conversations

and learning from people who think differently than you. And another thing as well, while I'm on this

topic, don't let your feelings about somebody cloud your opportunity to learn from that person.

There might be somebody who is out there who could teach you a lot.

But because you don't like that person, and I'm not talking about someone with a celebrity,

someone on a high pedestal or high status, I'm talking about people you're

around, people at work, people on your team, people part of your staff.
