Good morning and welcome to the Increase Your Impact podcast. I'm Justin Sue, episode 1694.

Today we are talking about looking at your performance and judging them effectively.

Being able to at the end of the game, at the end of a performance, at the end of a practice, at the end of a

season, to be able to accurately assess how you did, to see the good, to see the bad, to learn

the lessons, and then to identify what you need to do better next time. It's important to be

able to accurately assess your performance because

that's where the lessons happen. Reflection doesn't give you lessons. It's learning from those

reflections and knowing how you're going to get better as a result of taking a look, a hard look at your performance.

And sometimes it's easier said than done. Sometimes you don't want to look at your performance.

Sometimes you don't want to take a look in the mirror. But those are the moments that it's important

to do so. A lot of times you'll have a performance and you'll just beat up on yourself

and you'll look at all

of the bad that you did when there was some good that was mixed in there or you have a great

performance and you just look at all the good that you did without taking a look at the things that

you could have done better and the areas that you can grow and so that's why it's very important

to be able to look back at your performance,

pause and look and write down some notes

and some things that you can do to improve.

If you don't know how to do that,

here are three questions to help you.

Ask yourself, number one, what did I do well?

And the reason I like that question is simply because we are naturally hard on ourselves. It's easy to see all the bad. What did you do well? Number two, what did I learn? Now, we've gotten over these questions before, but this is a good reminder. What did I learn?
