I want to share the exact same strategies that I've learned from the best athletes in the world,

what they do before the game, how they stay locked in during the game, and how to have those hard conversations after the game. It's going to be Thursday at 7 p.m. Eastern. if you want the link, just email me. So today what we're talking about is we're talking about leadership, as we've been talking a a lot lately and a lot of it has to do with

0:55.7

relativity and i'm not talking about einstein's theory of relativity i'm talking about empathetic

1:01.8

relativity the kind that says you don't lead best by standing taller by being in a higher position

1:10.0

but by seeing things from where your people

1:12.4

1:17.8

or anyone who you lead. You want to think about and ask yourself, what do they see? What do they

1:23.8

believe? What do they value? What do they fear? And one of the most powerful mental

1:29.5

models around this that I've read recently is that there's more than one way to see everything.

1:36.4

And as a leader or a coach or a parent, that truth has to anchor us in order to support people the best we can.

1:46.1

Our ability to see through someone else's eyes, whether it be physically or

1:51.0

conceptually, it's, yes, it's connection, but also it's we have to be clear.

1:59.2

We have to trust. And it's a competitive advantage if you're

2:04.1

able to do this. I recently read an author Stephen Strogetz. He said this, quote,

2:09.8

relativity is founded on empathy, the scientific kind, the kind where you imagine how things

2:15.1

would appear to someone moving differently than you are close

2:18.8

quote empathy and relative being having a different perspective relativity is being able to

2:25.3

consider perspective how things would appear to someone moving differently than you are i think

2:30.9

that is so powerful and so my invitation is to remember that we all have

2:36.3

blind spots. You have blind spots. I have blind spots. The people were leading have blind spots.
