| 0:00.0 | Good morning and welcome to the Increase Your Impact Podcast. I'm Justin Sua, episode |
| 0:04.1 | 1,218. One of my favorite parts of my job are my weekly tap-ins with coaches. Now, tap-ins are |
| 0:15.9 | check-ins, essentially, where coaches and I jump on a phone, jump on the phone, and we have a |
| 0:22.6 | conversation about the week that was, the week that is, decisions they're going through, |
| 0:28.7 | obstacles that they're navigating, conversations they're having, successes, failures they're |
| 0:35.0 | learning from, and they last anywhere from 10 minutes to be as long as an |
| 0:39.9 | hour. No agenda. We just get on the phone and would talk about what's top of mind. And a few weeks ago, |
| 0:47.0 | I was having to tap in with a head coach. And we were talking about adversity he was going through. And a question that I always ask is, |
| 0:56.6 | what is a private victory that you are proud of that nobody else knows about? And he goes on to |
| 1:03.6 | talk about the attitude that he had, the positive attitude that he had while the team was |
| 1:08.8 | navigating a difficult stretch. And he talked about being |
| 1:12.7 | deliberate in how he walked into the locker room. He was communicating with players and with |
| 1:21.0 | assistant coaches. And he was very intentional about this. Now, the team still struggled. However, |
| 1:27.2 | he did not allow the results of |
| 1:30.9 | on the field and the noise from the media and the fans to derail how he was approaching his |
| 1:37.3 | leadership every day. And they ended up getting out of it, turned things around, but he was talking |
| 1:42.9 | about how proud he was of himself for the way he was |
| 1:46.2 | able to navigate the storm. And I asked him, I said, who else knows about this? He goes, nobody. |
| 1:52.1 | It was just you and my wife. But he was incredibly, he was proud of the way he handled it. He said |
| 1:58.5 | that last year or a few years ago, he wouldn't have responded the way that he did. And he was proud of his way he handled it. He said that last year, a few years ago, he wouldn't have |
| 2:01.1 | responded the way that he did. And he was proud of his intentionality. And what I loved about |
| 2:06.8 | is not just what he did, but the fact that a lot of times as a coach is a thinkless job. |
