going to talk about a leadership tool that you can put in your back pocket as you help people

become the best version of themselves. The acronym is weight, W-A-I-T, and it stands for,

why am I talking?

It's a gut check for coaches and leaders who feel the pressure to have all the answers all the time in every circumstance.

But great leaders and coaches, they don't just give answers.

They have the ability to ask great questions.

We've spoken about that many times on this podcast. The great ones don't just talk.

They have the ability to listen. They create space for people to process, to think and discover,

to realize that you are the guide on the side and not the sage on the stage.

And so I invite you to stop and ask yourself, why am I talking?

And when you do that, you give yourself permission and a moment to shift from delivering information to drawing out insight.

It doesn't matter what you think and you know.

It's about what the players think, what they know, what the people you're working with

think and know.

A lot of times a breakthrough doesn't happen in what you say.

It's what they say, which is why many times after I get off of a phone call or an interaction with

players or coaches that I'm working with, I'll often ask at the end, what was your biggest

takeaway? And many times, I will say the majority of the time, it'll be something that they said.

And I will actually articulate and say, who said that in this conversation? And they will say, you know, it was me who said that. And I'll say, you know, it and say who said that in this conversation and they will say

you know it was me who said that and then I'll double down on it and say it is it was you you were

the one who had the answers it just took some space and some questions to help you find that
