1,215. We often ask athletes, what's your why? We challenge them to dig deep to find that

burning reason that fuels their work ethic, shapes their habits, and sustain them when they're

in the spotlight. But the thing is, we rarely flip it, that question back on ourselves.

And so I'm here to ask you, listening to this, what's your why?

Why do you coach?

Why do you lead?

Why do you show up every day and pour into others knowing that much of what you do is behind the scenes?

It goes unrecognized and sometimes even unappreciated.

For some people, it's the love of the game.

For others, it's the chance to shape lives.

For others, it's the ability to help someone reach the level they've never thought possible maybe it's

because someone did that for you maybe it's because no one did that for you and now you're trying to

be who you needed when you were a young player a young athlete a young employee whatever your

reason is knowing your purpose brings clarity in the chaos it gives your leadership

roots because if you don't know your why pressure is going to define it for you the scoreboard is going

to define it the opinions of fans and parents and the front office or administration it's going to

define it for you and that's when leadership turns into survival.

But when you're anchored to purpose, your purpose, everything changes, your energy, your patience,

your perspective. You don't just coach to win. You don't lead to be in the spotlight.

You do these things to build others.
