I am your host Taylor and this is honestly a very long overdue conversation.

I carry over from my Instagram that I cannot wait to have with you guys today.

And to send us around the question, what are you?

So for those of you that either don't follow me on Instagram or happen to miss this kind of rant and conversation on my page,

I was in Vancouver and a man approached me just on the sidewalk and came straight up to me and tilted his head very curiously and just said,

what are you? Are you Brazilian?

And so I proceeded to share on Instagram that, you know, this happened.

This has happened throughout my life and just said it's very invasive and that oftentimes it is other white people asking me this question

and trying to figure out what my ethnicity is and just how inappropriate it is.

And it became a larger conversation around white fragility and how people of color say white people.

There were many, many layers to this conversation that started unfolding.

And so today I'll be digging a little bit deeper with a guest who wrote a piece in HuffPost about this.
