Hello, welcome to day four of 10 days in Tokyo with the running channel podcast.

0:13.0

See, Rick, this is where we've got lost. And when I say we, I mean you. How do we know

0:17.2

when we're halfway in your weird mind games of we're actually doing nine, but you keep saying 10?

0:21.2

Yeah, for any new listeners, welcome.

0:23.4

Rick was desperate to call this series 10 days in Tokyo because he thought it sounded better.

0:27.7

But there are actually nine nights of athletics and there'll be nine episodes in this series.

0:32.5

What I've done is I've looked at the time my plane landed and the time the plane takes off this is the halfway point. Is it? Yeah. Okay, excellent. We're halfway? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, halfway or not, we have already seen lots of incredible events. There's going to be lots more to come, I'm sure. We enjoy telling you guys the lovely listeners, thank you for being here and sharing it with us, all about them and hopefully giving you a glimpse behind the scenes into all of the stuff

0:56.7

that we've seen that you might not see on TV as well. And I need to say a huge thank you

1:01.0

to Attics for bringing us out here and for supporting us doing this podcast. Should we get into it?

1:05.3

Let's do it.

1:10.3

So I want to start off by talking about the wonderful food that we've been having here a lot.

1:17.6

Now, we have eaten out at restaurants, which has been lovely.

1:21.3

But I would say the places where we've frequented most due to rushing to the stadium

1:26.6

or grabbing a snack after watching the athletics has been the wonderful supermarkets of Japan. Oh, the stuff they have. I am obsessed with these eggs sandwiches. I am obsessed with an egg sandwich. It honestly is the best thing I've ever had in my life. You've been validated by social media there haven't you, yeah, yeah, because I just bought on a whim the egg mayonnaise sandwich.

1:46.2

And then realized that it was a thing that other people appreciate. And I totally get it. And it now has been a day since I've had one. And honestly, it's all I can think about. I know what you mean, Sarah. I talked yesterday about Japan being one of the best countries in the world to be forgetful. I think it's also one of the best countries in the world to be lazy.

2:00.7

Because if you get a sandwich from the supermarket, they chop off the cross for you. That's true. I do feel like I felt like a toddler. Exactly. If you get an apple from the supermarket, it's already peeled. Yes. Yeah. But one thing you cannot do is eat in the street. Yes, true. As we did yesterday and got some looks. Yeah, I know. We were in a rush. We were trying to eat something before jumping in a taxi. And hadn't realized that it was culturally, potentially not the done thing. So we won't do it again. As Rick was on part two of his sandwich, we googled it. Yeah, I'll put the chicken cats and sandwich away. We were very careful with our rubbish, which I believe is often where it stems from. There's not very many, like, bins anywhere. So we did take overrobish with us. Even I bought, like, literally a bottle of sparkling water in the morning after a run. And the person serving me, like, pointed which one of these do I want to do? And one option was eat in. Oh, just to have the water. Yeah, just to have the water. That's fantastic. It's so good, yeah. Yeah. You've had something else on your list from a food perspective, didn't you? You've been banging about some crisps. Oh, yeah, the crisp. Not even a specific type of crisps. Just, I am a crisp person. Yeah. And I just feel like every single packet of

3:09.1

crisps that I've bought, even when I've been like, oh, is this going to taste good? 10 out 10. We did have, there's a packet of crisps here in the podcast studio in Tokyo, which I actually haven't even dared to try, because both of you put them on your tongue and they went, they are quite spicy.

3:23.2

They're like,

3:24.3

does anyone remember knickknacks?

3:25.8

Yes.

3:26.2

Yeah.

3:26.4

They're quite spicy. They're like,
