Summary
Amanda Jo, the founder of Bunny's Buddies, explains how her dog rescue works. Some of your favorite Bachelor personalities, like Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick, have adopted their dog's through her non-profit. She describes the process of finding the dogs in Asia, rehabbing them, flying them to America, and matching them with the perfect owners for them. You'll be amazed by how much money it takes to accomplish these saves each month. Amanda lets us in on why there are so many beautiful dogs, including golden retrievers, that are rescued through her organization. She also explains why she doesn't let adoption applicants choose the breed they desire to bring into their home.

| 0:08.0 | today. We have a very special topic. Something that I cannot believe we haven't done in four years of this show or talking about animal rescue and we have the founder of bunnies |
| 0:19.0 | buddies, buddies, Amanda Joe on. You guys don't know bunnies, buddies. They have quite the social media following. They have they saved dogs from all over the place. |
| 0:31.0 | They're the ones that Caitlin Bristow got her dogs from. So we are so excited to have her on the podcast right now. Hello, Amanda. |
| 0:41.0 | Hello, guys. Thank you so much for having me. Thank you for coming. Yeah, thanks for coming. We're so excited. |
| 0:48.0 | I think it's really good. Like Ashley said, can't believe it's like taking this long. Yeah. So, so let's talk about how you got into animal rescue. Like at what moment did it go from seeing basically like the rescue ads on TV to you like taking action? |
| 1:04.0 | Well, I think I was probably like everyone. You know, just a normal person that you kind of hear the whispers of, you know, the Uland dog meat festival. And we kind of all know what's going on, but we don't really know to what degree. |
| 1:17.0 | And so I have another online business and I had two golden retrievers at the time. And one of my customers tagged me and up one of those terrible videos online. |
| 1:30.0 | And it was a golden retriever literally being tortured and I just couldn't believe it. And so like in that moment, it just became different because that was my dog. That was my dog. I saw, you know, being tortured and not that it's okay that the other. |
| 1:45.0 | You know, when you picture a dog meat animal, you picture just like maybe a random street dog that you don't have that connection with not that that's okay. |
| 1:53.0 | But I think that that's kind of how my mind pictured it. And so it just became so much more real when you're seeing literally a golden retriever is bound tied up being burned alive, boiling water poured on it. |
| 2:07.0 | So yeah, in that very moment, I just wanted to scroll off and I just wanted to go about my day, but I couldn't. It was just like haunting me in my head. And so I remember rolling over to Kyle, being like, we're starting to ask you like literally right in that moment. And so. |
| 2:25.0 | Yeah, it was just like a it was never a plan. It was never something like I've just been waiting to do. It was just like, oh my god, I can't believe this is real into this degree and like I have to do something. And so that's the short story. |
| 2:40.0 | So you founded Bunnies buddies you roll over you tell I'm assuming that's your husband, right, you just mentioned. |
| 2:48.0 | So how does it all work? How does one even I don't want to ask how does one start a dog rescue, but more so, I think I just want you to paint the picture of what's the day to day and how you got it started. |
| 3:01.0 | Like, who do you call overseas? How do you how do you find them and how do they get here? |
| 3:06.0 | Yeah, so it was a lot of being just you have to be completely motivated like deep to your core. And I think that's the one thing that anyone wants to be involved in any sort of like serious dog rescue, whether you're an adopter, whether you're me. |
| 3:22.0 | You have to be like so passionately driven. It can't just be something that you know you're just thinking about. I know that sounds cool. It has to be something that just like drives you inside like I feel fire when I think about it because I'm just so. |
| 3:35.0 | So upset by what I see so you really have to be driven by something so deep and so that that drive and that fire really pushed me I was like I'm doing this no matter what I'm going to figure it out. So I just started going online making connections following how other people were doing it really was just about connections. |
