Hey everyone, welcome back to the Marcos Mama's podcast. I'm your host, Elizabeth Joy. And we believe in empowering people through storytelling and education.

0:16.0

And I'm excited about today's guest. We have on Caitlin Wasniak and I just enjoy talking to her because we have so much in common.

0:26.0

She's followed Dula. She's struggled with eating disorder before. She just had her second kid. And I know that we don't talk tons about the Dula work on here. So I thought it'd be fun to have her on to talk about all these different things, but also the work that she's doing with women to help them in their pregnancy and postpartum journey.

0:48.0

And also to touch on how like even as Dula's like birth doesn't always go as you expect. And so she's going to share her story with us. And I'm just so grateful for her coming on and just being so open.

1:06.0

Because nothing is one size fits all. And there's so much room in birth for you to yes, make your plan. But also to be educated on all your options. And then also to follow your intuition.

1:22.0

And we kind of touch on all of that in this episode. So I'm super excited to talk to her. If you missed last week, it was a really cool episode with Amy Van Heron and she invented the pump spotting app. And it's cool because you can like be somewhere and rate a place based on like how nursing or pumping friendly it is.

1:45.0

And you can leave tips for people if they're traveling like, oh, I went to this one place and they actually have like a breastfeeding room or you know if you're at this airport between this gate and that gate is like a good place to go.

1:59.0

And on top of that, just a whole community with a lactation consultant, people in similar journeys with you. And you can set dates on there, which I think that this is such a cool idea. So let's say your planning on breastfeeding in your do soon.

2:16.0

You can put that date in there and you'll get tips and information regarding like that stage. Or let's say you're planning on weaning. Let's say you want to wean by the first birthday and you can enter that date where you're going to get love notes and tips and encouragement for that part of your journey, which I thought was so cool, because it's often not talked about.

2:37.0

And she just Amy's just done like such an amazing thing with that app. So it's really cool that yeah that she's that she's created the community that she had. So definitely check that out.

2:51.0

Next week we're having on Irene and it's going to be an episode all about sex. So next week, maybe if you listen with your kids around, maybe don't.

3:02.0

There's a couple times that I just get like real in there about some stuff. So I'm not sure if you want your children listening.

3:12.0

And then after that week, we're having on Dr Mona and you guys know her as peeds.talk and she is just awesome. I ask all of my new mom pediatrician questions and she's just she gives so many great insights and tips and I've love following her on Instagram.

3:29.0

And now like being able to interview her and talk to her as well. So I'm excited for you guys to hear from her. All right, we are going to go ahead and dive into this week's episode.

3:41.0

All right, everyone. I'm excited about today's episode because I'm interviewing another doula and I know you guys all know that I'm a doula, but I don't get to talk about my work that much on here.

3:50.0

And so I'm excited to have Caitlin on today. Caitlin Wozniak. She just had a baby. She is seven weeks postpartum, which is awesome that she's taking the time to do this interview and to join us.

4:02.0

And she is known as the fit doula. She does pre and postnatal training, labor prep, birth doula and a childbirth educator. So she has a lot going on. She's busy. And I saw like on your Instagram, you're like taking on clients. I'm like, wow, this lady is like so motivated.

4:19.0

I know like after I had Jovi and I had to go back to work. I was like, I'm not there yet mentally. So thanks for coming on the podcast. Caitlin and I'm excited to chat with you today.

4:30.0

Thanks for having me. I'm so excited to be here. I've been listening to you for a long time now.

4:36.0

Oh, fun. Yeah. And so I'd love to talk. How did you get into birth work? And how did you become like the fit doula all of that?

4:45.0

So my long story made as short as possible. I got into fitness actually while recovering from an eating disorder. And I was really reframing my relationship with movement.

5:01.0

And I started indoor cycling at a place that kind of removed numbers and metrics from the fitness experience. And at the same time with studying psychology. And I after I graduated and was working in psychology for a while, I realized that there was a really big need to blend mindfulness and body image work and healthy wellness with the fitness industry.
