it anyway, with renowned Van Halen expert Greg Renoff. Now, Greg wrote the fabulous book, Van Halen Rising, which is an incredibly well-researched book

about the early days of the band.

Their time is mammoth, Red Ball Jet, the backyard parties, the near-fatal overdose,

the hustle and bustle and characters and events that all led up to the

signing and release of Van Halen 1 and beyond. So go to your local bookstore or Amazon, I hate

saying that word, and get a copy of Van Halen Rising, and you can also pre-order Greg's

page at thevinylguide.com. Now as most Van Halen fans know, news of the band happens pretty slow. Updates in the last few years

have really been at a glacial pace. So when I did this interview with Greg, I was about to go on

holiday, and then I returned there were a few episodes that were time sensitive. So I didn't really

rush to put this out because what the heck happens in the Van Halen camp anyway.

So as luck would have it, since this interview took place a few weeks ago, there have been at least three major announcements in the Van Halen universe.

Big announcement, number one, well, it wasn't really an announcement news on Eddie's health.

TMZ reported that Eddie Van Halen has been seeking cancer treatments overseas,

even emerging with a few new photos of the guitar hero, which, if true,

and we have no reason not to believe it's true, it would totally make sense

as the silence of the band in recent years and such kind of leads to that natural conclusion.
