Summary

Cadet Concept Records was a subsidiary of the Chess Records label out of Chicago and intended to modernize some famous blues musicians. The results weren't what they expected, plus Nate talks his turntable dramas, gets saved by The Spin Doctor in Hornsby and discovers Ortofon styluses.

If you like records, just starting a collection or are an uber-nerd with a house-full of vinyl, this is the podcast for you. Nate Goyer is The Vinyl Guide and discusses all things music and record-related.

Today we've got a very special show. I'm going to be talking about Cadet Concept Records.

0:27.9

Now, Cadet Concept Records was a label out of the very early 70s, fairly insignificant output

0:33.3

historically and musically. However, there were a couple, just two releases that came out from

0:39.3

Cadet Concept, which are really quite interesting. Quite phenomenal, actually. We're going to

0:59.5

turntable this weekend. In the meantime, you can always give me a quick email, Nate,

same situation. I also have a family. I think I've shared that before, wife and two kids. I've got a

1:34.0

regular job. I've got a lot going on in my life. And, you know, I'm making time to do this

1:38.3

podcast, which is really fun. It is something I really look forward to. And I try not to take too much time away from other things,

1:47.8

other obligations in my life. In fact, I think the thing I'm giving up most about doing this

1:52.6

podcast is sleep, which again, happy to forego that because I love talking records and sharing

1:58.5

the sort of information. So it's been real busy around the house the last few weeks.

2:03.6

And I get home the other night quite late, and my wife is there with this look on her face,
