is sure to turn to me and say, Andrew, and I'll say yes, and they'll say what? And

I'll say, didn't you just say something? And they'll say, did I? I don't remember.

And this conversation goes on like this for a long time. But maybe you don't want to

hear about all that. So I'll just skip to the part where the person finally says, oh,

yeah, now I remember what I was going to say. I was going to ask you, what is the scariest

Halloween movie you've ever seen? And I tell them this. The scariest Halloween movie

I've ever seen is called It's a Good Thing. It starts when a mid-size American city is

set upon by rioting hordes of criminals. They attack the police. They loot stores. They

burn buildings and mug innocent people. But everyone in the city smiles and just says,

it's a good thing. Now there's one man, our hero, who isn't with the crowd. He objects.

He says, how can it be a good thing when everyone's so violent? But the people just keep smiling

and they say, well, they're mostly peaceful. So it's a good thing. And our hero says, but

my business has been reduced to ashes and the people smile, glassy-eyed and they say,

yes, but it's social justice. So it's a good thing. And this bizarre, eerie state of affairs

continues until finally the hero works up his courage and says, no, you're all lying.
