You have a billion Indians and a billion Chinese and a ton of other people who are poor smart

who are just held back by terrible systems, right?

They're held back by socialism, held back by communism.

Now they're competing on the world stage.

But one of the consequences of this is that the West, especially the US, is souring on

free speech and free markets because I tweeted this but basically I think at deep point

the East Coast establishment no longer wins a game of truly free speech and free markets.

Our guest today barely requires any introduction.

CTO of cryptocurrency platform Coinbase, Stanford PhD, biology is unique in that he is one

of the many persons on Twitter who has a lot of thoughts and is very prolific but at the

same time is able to back up those thoughts with serious critical work that helps people

understand the way the world is going to go.

We start the episode by referencing this but biology is unique in that back in January

2020 he had a really excellent tweet which said COVID is coming, here's what's going to happen.

We're going to see increased nationalism, border closures, hoarding, face masks, basically

every single thing he predicted came about.

And as you all know, the theme of this show is we want to look at where the world is now,

where it's going to be tomorrow and help you all think about it.

So us doing a forward looking episode that didn't dwell as much on coronavirus and then

looked at the world in 2025 was the perfect place to go.
