Hey everybody, Tom Woods here. We're talking about George Orwell today. We all love George Orwell,

and yet we have this sneaking suspicion. There's something not quite right about him in terms of his views.

We're going to try and get to the bottom of that today with David Ramsey Steele, who is the author of a brand new book on this subject, called Orwell Your Orwell, A World View on the Slab.

David is the author of numerous other books.

welcome to the show. I'm glad to be here. Orwell is such a fascinating figure. I've had my friend

Brad Berzer on to talk about him because he's a science fiction fan and he's had a lot to say about

Orwell and others. Orwell's been a bit of a puzzle to a lot of people

because, as you note in the book, on the one hand, he seems to have some socialist sympathies.

And on the other hand, he's extremely anti-totalitarian. And this has led to all kinds of scholarly

debates about 1984 and his intentions there. This couldn't be an
