Believe it or not, this is the date about five weeks after the signing of the Declaration

of Independence that the British actually found out that we declared independence.

That's how slowly news traveled in those days.

So it's funny, we're supposed to celebrate June 10th because that was the day they found

out in Texas about the emancipation.

Well, maybe we should celebrate a second Independence Day on August 10th.
