Rob Sitch is certainly one of the most unique fly fishermen I've ever met, a doctor,

comedian, director and actor, his television series A River Somewhere took Australia by storm.

20 years later his show is still regarded as one of the most groundbreaking flyfishing programs

to ever hit the air. I sat down with Rob at his production house in Victoria Australia to hear more

about his inspiration for the series.

So Western Suburbs is considered the industrial heartland of my hometown, but I really loved industrial.

I like factories and it was back, you know, they're all now sort of digital startup hubs, but back then I love, even

petrochemical places and they were like secret worlds and so I am I didn't grow up in a leafy

suburb well right now we're in South Europe is this is this is this a leafy

sub this is considered the sort of the start of the leafy suburbs? This is considered the sort of the start of the leafy suburbs.

Yeah, but it's very inner city, it's very hipster and I think you'd say South

there is a prestigious suburb.

I didn't want to be the one to say it, but my husband may have alluded to that.

Now we're in your office or we're in your, I guess, a production house.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

And it feels kind of industrial.

It does. It's, we moved here 20 years ago and it was an old fabric shop or design house for a sort of a well-known label in Melbourne.

And then we sort of, it's warehousey,

and there's something that it's good for creativity.
