Today we'll be telling the story of St Charles of Seize,

whose feast is celebrated on January 6th.

Charles was born on October 19th, 1613, in CZ in Central Italy.

His parents were poor farmers, and Charles spent his childhood

helping on the farm as a shepherd and plowed the fields as well.

His family was very devout, and from a young age Charles

knew he wanted to pursue the life of a religious. At age 22 he joined the

Order of Friars Minor which had been started by St. Francis of Assisi.

During his life as a friar, he worked as a gardener, porter, and cook.

As his reputation for holiness grew, many people sought him out for spiritual advice, even popes.
