I met up with Peter and Tasmania for a casual sit-down. I had a few expectations about what he might disclose to me,

but I left with a mind full of philosophy, heartfelt discussion, and a better glimpse into the life of Mr Hayes. I started off as a fly fishing guide 21 years ago after I left engineering, mechanical

engineering, mechanical design engineering actually and I had a bit of a life change when a marriage

didn't work and I came back to my birthplace Tasmania and started a guiding business.

So after three years of summertime guiding business

where I would in winter go back and do contract engineering,

a mate of mine said, why don't you create your own job in winter instead of do contract engineering

work.

So I thought it would be sensible to vertically integrate and do a bit of casting instruction.

So way back then maybe 94 or 95 or something I started

doing casting schools. So their summertime guiding is very busy with 95% repeat business.

And then in winter the casting schools have turned into a big deal.

And I can remember the very first one actually, the first one a mate of mine who's got a fishing newspaper, best fishing newspaper in the world, has fishing in Boatingnews.com.

So he spent two magazines, two months worth of effort, advertising Peter Hayes,
