Summary

FDo you want meaningful friendships? Have you struggled to meet new friends in your current season of life? How to MAKE and KEEP friends are what we are talking about on this episode! In this conversation, I’ll be talking about · How to build friendships · What are the ingredients for long-lasting relationships · When should we let a relationship end And who better to talk about this than with my closest friends, Jasmine Star, Brianna Glenn, and Melanie Nyema. I may describe ourselves as the Hot Mess Express, but we've maintained our bond for over two decades. It hasn't always been easy, but we have supported one another through many different seasons of life. We exchange stories, talk about our memories together and share the lessons we've learned from our friendship. My hope is that as you listen and walk away with practical knowledge that you can apply to your own friendships. Whether you're dealing with friendship conflict, trying to make time for your friends or looking to build new, intentional friendships, there's something here for you. I'd love to see what your friendships look like and hear about what your friends mean to you. So, don't forget to tag me @biancaolthoff, I can't wait to learn about your nearest and dearest. Thank you for being a friend to me! How about you show your friends some love and set some time aside to catch up and listen to this episode together. Hey, welcome to another episode of We're Going There. I'm your host, Bianca Wadis Oltoff,

0:12.3

and I'm excited about today's episode. I mean, I think I say there about every episode,

0:17.0

but legit, I'm excited because the guests that I have on today's show are not just people

0:22.4

that might have different influences in different spheres, but they have influence into my life.

0:28.1

As we were laying out this season, I knew I wanted the season to feel a little bit different.

0:32.1

I wanted some to be interviews. I wanted some to be conversations. I wanted some to be practical.

0:36.8

I wanted some to be inspirational or instructional. Well, this episode, we are going to be tackling the topic of

0:43.1

friendship. Now, I know you're probably thinking like friendship. Why are we going to talk about

0:47.1

friendship? I don't know about you, but as I have gotten older, I think I realized that finding

0:53.1

and making friends in this season of my life is just

0:55.6

different. When you're in high school, you see the same people in the hallway and you get to have

1:00.2

lunch together and you hang out on the weekends and you go shopping on Sunday or whatever it is

1:03.7

that you do, that it fosters natural time spent with friends. Well, the older that you get,

1:10.1

you develop new systems, new structures, new pattern.

1:13.3

You think about where are you investing your time? Who do you want to be around? Who do you want to

1:17.8

hang out with? Our time is so limited as adults, especially as life and seasons change,

1:22.2

whether you are in a new job or maybe you have children or your job required you to travel. So if community

1:29.7

is important, which we'll get into in a second, then how do we cultivate community? So the reason

1:34.7

I'm passionate about this is because I remember watching back in high school an episode of the

1:39.4

Oprah Winfrey show. Don't judge me. Okay. Don't judge me. The queen of TV herself had a phenomenal

1:45.4

show. Love her. And I remember this one episode where she interviewed this group of women.
