Summary

Confidence. Modesty. Purity culture. Femininity. Being “sexy.” Whew… yeah, the Aunties went THERE. 👀✨

This week, we’re unpacking what confidence REALLY looks like as women of God — how we gained it, what tried to destroy it, and why so many women have been taught to shrink themselves in the name of “holiness.”

Can Christian women be confident AND attractive?

Is being “sexy” automatically sinful?

Did purity culture help us… or hurt us?

And why are so many women struggling to feel beautiful without guilt attached to it?

We’re talking body image, self-esteem, modesty, church culture, femininity, confidence journeys, and learning how to exist fully without shame.

This conversation is honest, funny, layered, and probably gonna start some debates in the comments 👀 so grab your homegirls and let’s talk about it.

You know, I did. I wasn't expecting it to be so dramatic. and then I can't really like stand up because this is virtual and I have my news anchor bottoms. Okay, I'll fix it. If you listen to the audio, we're having fun over here on the visual. I'll tell you that. But in the same way that Nea just gave my birthday plug, my birthday month plug, I want to plug her wedding, okay? You know, she is a 2026 bride. We are still in the year of 2026. That means, you know, something you pay for, not saying anything. Hey, Carol, hello. But you know, it's always nice to set a couple up financially

2:25.4

and it just is what it is. You know, weddings are expensive. And we want our girl to do well. We're so excited for her. So just make sure you all donate to the Honey Fund. 2:45.7

All right, so y'all keep an eye out for all those things

2:48.0

and happy birthday to lower will multiply it back to you. Amen. Amen. Hallelujah. All right. So y'all keep a eye out for all those things and happy birthday to TT Sham. So we're ready to jump in. And I am excited about this topic because we haven't talked about it in a minute. I don't think we talked about it last season. But always a good thing to touch back on and that is just confidence, body image, especially in the stage of life that we're in as women, your body is always changing, you're trying to make sure that you're confidently navigating the world whether that is physically or mentally or emotionally or spiritually. And so it's always a good thing to come back on, share where we are, maybe share some tips and just have a good time talking about girl things. So I'm excited. You know, and confidence can come in waves, and I don't think we talk about that enough. My confidence comes in waves. Everybody knows your girl is a confident woman. Then there are also times when I'm just like, I can't do this. Yeah. And do you hit those spots or have you hit a place where now like you're consistently confident? No, I definitely still have my moments. It depends on what time of the month it is. It depends on what's going on in life. And so I definitely still have those moments as a woman, especially as it relates to just like body confidence. In your 30s, for our nieces that have not hit that point yet, and for our fellow aunties that are here with us now, everything's changing all the time. Stuff that I used to be able to do, used to be able to wear, used to be able to feel confident in. I don't invite first, so there are some things

4:25.0

that I would not have worn back in the day that I put on very confidently now. So I feel like you hit your 30s and things just begin to change. And part of it is like the mental and the maturity and the grown woman side of it. And part of it is just life. So I definitely have my ups and downs too. I mean, I'm fine. As you can see, I am somebody's fine on T.

4:45.2

If you watch it, you know.

4:45.8

Hello.

4:46.8

Always somebody's fine on T.

4:48.6

But even stuff like this, like this clothing, this somebody's fine on T was our best selling T-shirt. And I love it because I feel like it makes people feel confident. Even my real life on it. And she's like in her 70s. Maybe she put on her somebody's phone on t-shirt and she can't wait to go out and have people say,

5:06.1

oh, where you get that shirt from? Oh, you know, and so even simple things like the clothes that you choose to wear, whether they flatter your shape or it's something that you really believe in. I love when people ask me about my clothes when I'm wearing something that says something like, like, yes, ask me so I can tell you. So there are simple things that you can do to actually boost your confidence and boost your visibility.

5:29.7

What? something like, yes, ask me so I can tell you. So there are simple things that you can do to actually like boost your confidence and boost your like visibility. So when you discovered that you were built like a brick house, what did you do with that? Because you were in purity culture for a long time. Did you, did you discover that when you were in purity culture or after? I would definitely say after because when I was coming up I part of all of the um religiosity of it all was modesty so I um I didn't wear nothing too short I didn't wear nothing too tight and a few times here and there you know friends and stuff would tell me had a cute shape, but I'd never dug into it or appreciated it at all. And so what happened was what really got me like out there was that I went through a breakup and I ended up going on this whole like revenge body thing. So I started going to the gym six a.m. every morning. And I started working on the things that I didn't like, you know, a little love handle here, a little back roll there, toning up my thighs and stuff. And I started looking in the mirror like, oh, hold on. I ain't a man. Working with a little sum. And once I saw that baby, you was going to get this body. You, I couldn't,'t you was gonna get this body. Not only was I working hard about it, but I felt really, really good. And knowing that I was doing something proactive about the things that I didn't like, made me feel even better. So it wasn't feel like about 30 where I was like, oh, you know what? I'm working with a little somewhere. Oh, I got it. I think for me with my confidence, is definitely something that I gained as I've gotten older. And I wish it was more consistent when I was younger, but now that I'm in it, I'm like, yeah, I got it. And I'm that girl. And it's not just a physical thing. I feel like I'm more confident just in life and how I show up and being myself, you know, because for a while it was back and forth. It was really, really back and forth with, oh, do I, do I, do I feel like I can do this? And should I do this? Yeah, I can do it. I'm not only can I do, I can do it twice. And I will say, thank you to you, make it has definitely worked for me. Even at times when I'm not feeling confident, I just keep on going. And then eventually, like, I get in the mode of like, no, I got this. And now I look good and now I'm rocking this. I think it's super important to find what you like and accentuate it. I think it's very natural as women, as people to not just love every single thing about yourself, 100%. But there are things that you like about yourself and whatever those things are, accentuate them. I have different things that I like about myself. I like my smile. So yes, when I'm taking pictures a lot of times, you're going to see me smiling. I like my smile. So that, when I'm taking pictures a lot of times,

8:25.1

you're gonna see me smiling.

8:26.1

I like my smile.

8:27.0

So that's what I accentuate.

8:28.3

A lot of compliments on my smile.
