Your brain thinks that the things that happen in your life should be filtered through the lense, “How does this affect me?” This self interested position is not only unnecessary, it keeps us stuck, inhibits our relationships, limits our parenting and causes many other problems. But when we remember to tell ourselves, “It’s not about you,” we get to live the higher, more fulfilled life we are meant for.

1:42.0 | It's seeking to further our own interest. It is the self-interested part of us that thinks that everything that happens should be relevant to how it affects us. |
1:56.0 | It wants to know if things happening outside me will make me feel more important, more valuable, more loved, or help me to have more of the things I want in my life, or will it make me feel less important? |

2:15.0 | But of course this is mostly unnecessary, right? |

2:24.0 | And the things that happen outside of me are not the reason that I am amazing and valuable. |
