Summary

Has friendship with Jesus felt like a distant, almost-impossible relationship—especially when you can’t see, touch, or hear Him? Today Kelly is walking through John 15:9-17 where we’ll study a fascinating conversation Jesus had with His disciples. Jesus called His followers friends and He did so right before He left them. This isn’t the timing you would expect. But we’ll find that even in Jesus’s physical absence, He intended His disciples to continue experiencing the blessings of being in a real, vibrant relationship with Himself. And He offers us the same. Today we’ll look at the blessings that come from a rich friendship with Christ—love, joy, never being alone, answered prayer, and a life that matters. 1:08.5	there today in episode eight. But before we get to the blessings
1:13.0	of friendship with Jesus, which is what we're going to be talking about today, I wanted to
1:18.0	give you a little love from the kitchen because I felt like I had not been talking enough about
1:25.5	my love of cooking and gardening and hospitality and those kinds of
1:30.3	things, partly because we've just been having so much fun in the scripture and in the text
1:34.9	itself and there hasn't been a lot of time. But I wanted to share a recipe with you, which will
1:41.4	be in the show notes, and it is a risotto, butternut squash and
1:45.7	sausage risotto, actually. Because who does not need some comfort food? I feel like we could
1:51.7	always use it. This really has absolutely nothing to do with what we're going to be talking about today,
1:56.9	except for the fact that Jesus is going to command us to love one another. And incidentally,
2:04.1	if you really want to love someone, you can love them with risotto. It is amazing. This,
2:09.9	especially this dish, if you were to make some butternut squash and sausage risotto and have
