Summary
Hiking: Jacob Myers Thru-Hikes Arizona Trail – Desert Challenges, Driest Summer on Record, Sun Poisoning, Water Scarcity, Extreme Heat, Contrast to Appalachian Mountains Upbringing. Jacob Myers thru-hiked the Arizona Trail early this year and is joining us today to tell us all about it! Not only was the desert vastly different from the lush, rainforest-like Appalachian Mountains he grew up in, but it was one of the driest summers on record in Arizona, making the adjustment even more challenging. He dealt with sun poisoning, lack of water, and extreme heat.
His next adventure will be quite literally on the opposite end of the spectrum...crossing glaciers in Norway.
