0:00.0	But to the Greeks in Acts 17, the gospel was utter foolishness because they didn't have the right
0:16.4	foundation. They didn't believe in one true God. They believed in many gods. They
0:20.2	believed in form of evolutionism.
0:22.0	Paul initially preached the gospel to that group. It was utter foolishness because they did not
0:27.0	have the right foundation. And the comparison is in America in the Billy Graham generation decades ago,
0:32.7	there was much more of a biblical knowledge foundation in our culture. There was still sin, no doubt, but there was more biblical literacy in our culture. So you could use Christian language. You could talk about God. Most people would say back in the 30s, 40s, and 50s, they know the God of the Bible. That's who you're referring to. You could talk about sin. They would know what sin is biblically defined. They may reject it, but they would know what it is. Today, people don't even know those terms biblically. God? Which God? They're a bunch of gods. I can be my own God. Sin, there's nothing really right or wrong. It's all up to you. You know, really, what's right or wrong is determined by your feelings. You determine your truth. That whole Disney philosophy, just follow your heart, which is so appalling when you truly understand it.
1:12.6	And so that is dominant in our culture, and it's literally everywhere. Today, I think it's shifted a bit to where the social issues are the primary focus in our culture.
1:23.0	Issues of sexuality, gender, gender identity, marriage, abortion, you know, safety of life, all those
1:29.8	things, those become the primary hot button issues. If you don't give a biblical answer on gender,
1:35.3	sexuality, marriage, value of human life, where do you go? Which biblical doctrines do you go to?
1:40.3	They're all fond of Genesis 1, 2, and 3. But God defines marriage.
1:44.6	God defines gender.
1:45.8	He defines sexuality.
1:47.4	We're made in his image, thus the inherent sanctity of every human life.
1:51.1	All that goes back to Genesis 1, 2, and 3.
1:53.5	But if that's not real history, how can that be a foundation for biblical doctrines to refute the secular ideas of our age?
