In the early days of Utah, there seemed to be this kind of Mormon speak easy, where the

all-seeing eye was used as a way of marking certain buildings that could sell illicit

And if you knew the right passwords and you knew where to look and you knew the building,

then you could buy illicit materials.

Brigham allowed that kind of thing to continue quietly, so long as it happened quietly and

in your own personal revelation.

But I think he was the one that largely edited all of that out of major church ceremonies.

Mormons are not typically into incense burning, and their ceremonies, however, a lot of the early

school of the Prophet's stuff, there's some pretty vivid descriptions of them smoking and

fumigating the room that they're in.

And some people describe the fumigations as being noxious, which if you're used to tobacco

smoke, you're not going to describe it as that, but that sounds something more like

detoura, which was used in smoking blends of ceremonies.

He went to one of their original sacraments ceremonies and offers one of the most explicit

descriptions of laced sacramental wine because he's like, I'm a doctor, I know what they

gave me, and he even says he wouldn't try and stole a bottle so he could take it home and

prove that it was laced ceremonies of ceremonies.

And the fact that everybody's just kind of glazed over this is astounding to me.

Not only just because it connects to Mormonism, but because there were 17th century monks

in Pennsylvania doing this much drugs, and we don't know about it.

The idea that the psychedelic renaissance happened in the 1960s is just like laughable to me.
