Summary

Ever since I learned that the Southern Tier route passed through a small town in Texas only 18 miles from my house I've had my eyes open for an opportunity to host a tourer at my home.  That opportunity came about a month ago when I noticed someone on Instagram was on the route and headed my way.  That someone is Chris Stevenson.  I picked him up in Navasota, TX, we ate bbq, told stories, fixed his bike, recorded a podcast, and sent him on his way with the best of intentions.

Hello and welcome to the Bikes for Death podcast. My name is Patrick and I'm your host. This is a show that talks about bikepacking, adventuring, and the cool people who make up the sport. On this show, I got a chance to sit down with a guy named Chris Stevenson. He's currently on the Adventure Cycling Association's Southern Tier Route. So that goes from California to Florida.

went and picked him up, brought him home, and got cleaned up.

1:12.4

And it turns out he had some mechanicals.

1:15.8

And it was a good thing that I did pick him up because he probably wouldn't have made it too

1:20.5

much further.

1:21.3

And to the east of us, there's not going to be a lot of options for bike shops and whatnot.

1:25.6

But I'm going to put that store on hold for a little bit.

1:29.1

I'm going to let the episode play.

1:31.5

And then I'm going to pick that back up afterwards and kind of do the rest of the story

1:36.3

afterwards.

1:37.1

Because after we recorded it, there was some drama or bike bike mechanical issues um i've been waiting for an opportunity

1:49.3

like this originally i wasn't doing a podcast and i was just going to you know hang out with a
