Over the last weeks we've been discussing the fourth foundation of mindfulness and in

particular the factors of awakening.

And how each one beginning with mindfulness

leads on to the next.

So we talked about continuous mindfulness leading to wisdom through the development of

investigation and inquiry, which is the second Enlightenment factor.

And then as the Buddha goes on to describe,

in one who investigates and inquires with wisdom, and one who investigates and examines with wisdom,

and embarks upon a full inquiry, tireless energy is aroused.

And in one who was aroused tireless energy,

P.T. or rapture is aroused.

And by developing it, it comes to fulfillment.

So we've talked about the first three factors of awakening.

Tonight I'd like to begin the discussion about the fourth factor which is rapture.

Rapture is one translation of the poly word PT, it's PITI.

And this word has been translated into English in a variety of ways.
