The question is how to stop running from life and emotion into an action other than

And the answer is to really start to build a life you don't want to escape from.

So I don't think any of you are yet into that part of the path, but we spend pretty much

a majority of the path on that.

Now if you consider that cognitive dissonance is one of the most painful things that a human

being can experience in my opinion, because what cognitive dissonance is, it is cognitive

is thinking, dissonance is disagreement, so it is fighting with yourself.

Fighting with yourself is one of the most painful things that we can experience.

And when we are in that much pain, I think that is one of the main reasons we drink more

than we want to.

Now there's other reasons we were self-medicating, there's things underlying that, but in the

moments of already knowing we want to be alcohol free or already knowing we want to make

a change to our drinking and then experiencing that pain of cognitive dissonance, that becomes

one of the most painful things.
