Today I want to talk about the power that comes from discomfort. What do you mean, rod discomfort? I like being comfortable. Well, actually we all do. All of us like a degree of comfort and security.

1:38.5

In fact, we're all creatures of habit and we seek out that comfort and security. You know, when we're in our comfort zone, we're warm and we're cozy and we might feel safe and secure. Now who'd want to leave that, right?

1:49.5

But here's the problem as human beings were designed to grow through our setbacks and adversity. In other words, through discomfort, those setbacks and failures help us grow and become more.

1:59.5

And that discomfort can actually be a signal, can be a sign and sometimes it can even be a life saving warning. But what's most sad is that comfort actually destroys more dreams and ambitions than any other thing.

2:11.5

When you step outside that comfort zone, you'll realize the comfort zones really not that comfortable. As a child, you embrace the challenges that were all around you. You fell until you could walk, you babbled and you were misunderstood until you could talk.

2:26.5

You were terrified of being alone until you realized and it really embraced your independence. You'd sit hours and hours working on your home for school and see you grew through these challenges and certainly learn from them.

2:39.5

So, when exactly did you start just seeking ease and comfort over some discomfort and growth? Think about that for a minute.

2:47.5

At what point in your life did you get comfortable, too comfortable and stop growing? What many people don't realize is that you can actually equate the quality of your life and the amazing things that you've done in the past when you embrace discomfort.

3:01.5

Think about some of the most amazing things you've done in your life and think what you'll do when you go back, you'll recognize that those were times you've got a little bit uncomfortable.

3:10.5

The more discomfort you can manage, the more you grow in the better quality of life you're going to have. Again, the more discomfort you can handle.

3:20.5

Sadly, today there's a movement to make sure there's no discomfort associated with growing up, for example. There's so many instances of this, but here's a great example. Participation trophies.

3:30.5

Alright, enough said about that. Listen, the best time to evaluate your situation is when your emotions rise and you get uncomfortable, embrace that discomfort.

3:40.5

Realize that you're about to learn and grow, and if you're not experiencing massive growth, look at where you might be a little too comfortable and step out of that knowing that growth only happens when you're uncomfortable.

3:51.5

Maybe you want to take a course or come to one of my boot camps, you maybe you need to hit a gym, you might want to limit your alcohol intake, maybe you need to find a new peer group of people that want more out of life or just really push yourself in general.

4:04.5

But you need to be completely honest with yourself and identify areas where you've been too comfortable and maybe too accepting of your circumstances and step out of that space and get into some discomfort.

4:16.5

In fact, I'd encourage you to become comfortable with being uncomfortable because the comfort zone's a nice warm place, but nothing freaking grows there.

4:26.5

I'm Ron Cleef, wishing you an incredible passion and massive success in your business and in your life because you got a little bit uncomfortable.
