Summary
What was sport before carefully planned strength and conditioning programs existed? What was it like when the only athletes you saw in the weight room were the injured ones? Few people remember the days when training for any sport was comprised of little more than running long distance. But Boyd Epley not only remembers it vividly, but he was part of a pioneering few who actually reformed this broken system. He’s a god at the University of Nebraska and a founder of the NSCA.
Boyd Epley, legendary strength coach hailing from the University of Nebraska changed the game. Literally. He was able to convey the importance of power over conditioning for football players, which was not an easy fight. What followed was some of the most dominant performances the sport had ever seen and proof that Boyd was onto something big. Soon, universities the nation over would be attempting to replicate his program.

| 1:08.6 | are playing in the NFL? At the time, I didn't know anybody that played in the NFL. So I was like, not good. I mean, six with five white dude, how many of those get to play in the NFL? So I ended up going to Cal just for the fact that I could get multiple degrees there, graduating four years and worked with my master's in my fifth. So I was a little more interested in the degree than going on and playing. And then |

| 1:44.3 | for Will next to Will for a couple years. And I had met Will on that recruiting trip. So I think |
| 1:50.2 | class act, wasn't he? Yeah, he was a great individual. So I was very fortunate to get to play with him. |
| 1:56.2 | You know, played right tackle next to him for his final game. And then when he retired, |
| 2:00.5 | I played right guard for the Chiefs. So that. And then when he retired, I played right |
| 2:00.9 | guard for the chiefs. So that was a nice transition. He was just honored this year at the Outland |
