because if you're going to spend a decent amount of time in the bathroom

you need good reading material and the baskets in my house are stashed with design magazines

because I like real estate, I like design, I like

decorating, I like shopping for all of the different things that you can use to design and decorate your home.

I spend an inordinate amount of time just surfing listings on realtor.com and Zillow.com

because I like to look even when I'm not even shopping.

But today we're going to talk about design of another sort.

We're going to talk about designing your life and we've got Bill Burnett on the line.

He is a consulting assistant professor at Stanford, the executive director of its design program, and the co-author of the number one New York

Times Best Seller designing your life, how to build a well-lived joyful life.

Bill, welcome, thanks so much for Skyping in.

You're welcome and you know I have baskets in my bathrooms as well and they are also full of design and robotics magazines.

Oh robotics magazines I'll have to try that.

I wrote a book once called Money Rules that I told everybody was a really good bathroom book because you could open it up and you could go to any page and learn something and in fact I think it found its way into an awful lot of bathrooms.
