Hello and welcome to my time capsule.

I'm Mike Fenton-Stevens.

And my time capsule is a podcast where people tell me five things from their life they wish they had in a time capsule, four things that

they love, and one thing they'd like to bury and forget. And my guest in this episode is the singer

and songwriter Ella Eyre. Ella is only 31, but with already an amazing 15-year career behind her.

After spending her early school days at the famous private

school millfield, paid for luckily by a swimming scholarship, she moved to the Brits School in London

to study musical theatre, where she was discovered by her management through a vocal coach

in 2011. She signed to the publisher, Warner Chapel Music, in July 2012, for her songwriting, obviously,

and signed a record deal with Virgin EMI shortly after.

In April 2013, she featured on the band Rudimental single, Waiting All Night,

which peaked at number one in the UK single charts, becoming Ella's first chart entry.

She featured on a number of albums after that, including Tiny Temper's album demonstration,

and was the runner-up for the 2014 Brit Critics Choice Award, and came second on the BBC's

Sound of 2014 shortlist. Her next three solo singles reached the top 20,

and she co-wrote the UK number one single, Changing,

for drum and bass duo Sigma,

featuring British recording artists Paloma Faith,

which was released in the United Kingdom in September 2014.

The following month, Ella won Best Newcomer at the Mabo Awards. Her debut album,

Feline, was released in 2015, and in September of that year, she released the cover of Swinglow

Sweet Chariot in association with England Rugby to coincide with the 2015 Rugby World Cup. In November,
