Summary

In this powerful coaching session, Christine supports Nina, a high-achieving woman who has learned to rely on herself since childhood—and now wonders why love feels so hard to receive. Despite years of healing and success, she finds herself attracting men who are kind but lack direction, and she struggles to understand whether her independence is strength or self-protection.

Christine helps Nina uncover the difference between healthy masculine energy and overfunctioning rooted in trauma. Together, they explore how early loss and betrayal created hypervigilance, and how surrendering to trust—especially through a deeper spiritual relationship—can open the door to healthy, reciprocal love.

If you've ever been told you're "too strong," or you find it easier to do everything yourself than to receive support, this episode will help you reframe that pattern with compassion and start allowing love in.

Consider / Ask Yourself:

  • Do you relate to overfunctioning or feeling like the one everyone relies on?
  • Is receiving help or love uncomfortable for you?
  • Do you believe you need to have everything handled to feel safe?
  • Have you confused control with confidence or independence with strength?

Key Insights and A-HAs:

  • Overfunctioning is often a trauma response, not healthy masculine energy.
  • When we've been hurt by men, we often project that hurt onto "the masculine" as a whole.
  • Safety must come before surrender—your nervous system needs evidence that love can be safe.
  • Healing happens in stages; each relationship can serve as a stepping stone toward healthy partnership.
  • True surrender isn't weakness—it's a return to trust, faith, and divine alignment.

How to Deepen the Work:

  • Reflect on early memories that taught you to "handle it all" and what beliefs they created.
  • Practice receiving in small, everyday ways (compliments, help, rest).
  • Replace "I need to fix it" with "I'm open to support."
  • Pray or journal: "God, help me align with my most loving and healthy match."
  • Remember that trust—both spiritual and relational—is a muscle built over time.

Hi, everybody. Welcome to the show. Even if you aren't calling in love in your life, this episode is going to be

1:00.5

wonderful for any of you that have learned or learned at a very young age that you need to rely on

1:07.6

yourself, that you needed to get things done, that you needed to get things done, that you needed to

1:11.0

handle things. And that's led to a lot of overfunctioning, particularly in women. And when it comes

1:18.2

to calling in love, when women are looking for a masculine counterpart to balance out their

1:23.5

feminine energy and have that polarity in relationship, often they feel a little blocked

1:29.2

because they're so much in their masculine. But as I've said before, when women are in overfunctioning,

1:35.6

we actually aren't in healthy masculine energy. That's not what it is. We're in a maladaptive strategy.

1:41.1

We're in a hypervigilance. We're basically in a trauma response that's the

1:45.4

result of something happening at a young age where we decided that we just needed to get things done.

1:51.3

We needed to be good. We needed to over function. We needed to be advanced for whatever reason.
