Hello and welcome to episode 513 of the Money to the Massies podcast with your resident expert as always, Damien Faye and me and Alex. Damien, we're back. We had a bit of a break last week. Well, I say we did. You had a little bit of a break last week. Yeah, it was really nice to have a mini break because I went away. I went to Barcelona. So those of you who don't know, I've been to Barcelona

loads of times in the past, but I hadn't been there for almost a decade. In fact, my wife and I

hadn't been away just the two of us almost for a decade. There'd be so many people listening to

this that we understand that once you have children, you tend to only do things together. So it was

really nice for us to get away and wander around Barcelona.

I might share the odd picture on our socials this week so people can see. There's a couple of

really nice places that we went to. So yeah, I had a fantastic time. It was really hot out there.

It was great just wandering around the city, the back streets, down towards the port and the

beach. And I just absolutely loved it.

So I've come back fully recharged after a couple of days in Barcelona.

Yeah, and I mean, you had nice weather there, I'm assuming, but the weather here over the last

week has been pretty dreadful, so you couldn't have timed it better.

I seem, whenever I go away, I seem to always get good weather when I'm away but I seem to time it with good weather here so I come back and everyone says oh you should have stayed here you could have saved yourself a fortune. That's the sort of thing Andy that I've been doing all summer when I've been laying in the garden looking up at planes going overhead thinking oh yeah see with the same point going on holiday you know justification as to why we might not potentially go away this year in order to save money. So this time around, I seemed to be the person that went away and it immediate, in fact, it did start raining as I was on the plane, which made it feel even better. But anyway, on with this week's show. I'm going to tell you what's going to be on the podcast this week. I'm going to do a piece on the state pension. So the overriding questions that I'm going to be

answering are, will you even get a state pension, particularly if you're young? And if so,

or will it even be enough? There's been a lot in the press lately about the sustainability of the state pension.

We are then going to do a piece on water bills.

In particular, it's been stated that water bills are likely to go up by a significant amount

over the next five years for various reasons.

And they're going to be a huge overhaul or likely to be an overhaul

of the water sector in the UK. So that's going to impact everybody. It's going to be covering

that. And the final piece on the podcast. So in the last week since we've launched the money,

we've helped over 3,000 people and we've answered a whole host of questions covering a range of topics.
