There are two jobs in American politics that are unlike any others, present in the United

States and mayors of big cities.

Those are two jobs in which your constituents hold you responsible for everything, whether

you have any power to do anything about it or not.

And for big city mayors, the issues of crime, the issues of education, the quality of life,

our front and center 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Michael Nutter did that job for eight years in Philadelphia and has a lot to impart about

policing, about public education and those issues that are very much in the forefront of

our discussions today.

I explored that with Mayor Nutter the other day when we sat down for this conversation.
