winners of the last listener essay contest. Today Randy and I sit down with Pete

who wrote an essay about correspondence with his father, a letter that his father wrote to him and then he wrote a letter back to his father.

I will include that essay at the end of today's interview and I'll say right from the start my and we talk about this but my feelings

my feelings about Pete changed as a result of talking with him. You know I had

certain impressions when I heard the listener essay kind of reminded me of

ways that I was like way too hard on my dad and people and so it's kind of harsh on

Pete when I first heard it. I'll be honest. Sorry about that Pete. But then getting to know him?

Oh my gosh, like his background, his story, I repent, I must repent.

And so I apologize to Pete and I apologize as we were having the conversation, but oh man, the stuff that you've gone through,

Pete, you're a trooper, you're a real trooper, you're a survivor, you're awesome, you're great.
